The Art Workshop

The purpose of this workshop series is to offer the students that are interested in pursuing a career or further education in the arts after high school. A classically based curriculum with an emphasis on drawing and painting, as well as, 3D work and digital photography and computer graphics.

The following classes represent a sampling of classes that have been offered as part of the curriculum plan. Elements and Principles of Art (Theory and Studio), Studio Drawing, Photography/Computer Integration/Graphic Design, Advanced Drawing and Composition, Studio Painting and Color, 3D Design, Ceramics, Drawing the Portrait, Sculpting the Portrait, Advanced Painting Studio, Theater Set Design, The Mural.


These classes are taught by Art Teachers Marianne F. Buckley Curran and Kathryn Hahn and workshop instructors who are also professionals in their fields,
Heidi Harting (photography) and John Kilroy (painter, sculptor and director of The John Kilroy Fine Art Academy in Rockland).

The school art department has a working studio, as well as, a self contained MAC computer Lab exclusively for the Arts. Pottery and metal classes are presently offered off site during the school day. Interested in more information, please email Marianne at mbuckleycurran@sscps.org.
