Parents founded the South Shore Charter Public School in 1996 and one of the
driving forces behind the school’s founding was for parents to be partners with
the school in the education of each child. There are many aspects of a successful partnership between student, school and family. One of them can be to work
directly with students in school as a volunteer. Helping students directly is a very challenging and potentially rewarding experience but it does take training, a certain
type of temperament, and discretion. What follows is a brief outline of what are the responsibilities and purposes of volunteering in school.
